Today was incredible, we got caught up on our sleep and spent the day exploring Lantau Island. We took the MTR again today to Tung Chung station where we took our very first cable car ride!

It takes some time but we got to see some fabulous places on Lantau Island, we got off at the Po Lin Monastery to see the fabulous Big Buddha [1], and wow is it ever huge!

We definitely over dressed as we didn't realize to reach the actual Buddha you must first climb 260 steps[1.1], but let me tell you it was absolutely worth it, we got a great view of the whole Island! I have never seen anything so huge, it is 100 feet tall and weighs over 200 tons[1.2]- no wonder it took 12 years to constuct.
Luckily the Big Buddha is open to the public from 10:00am to 6:00pm everyday so we took our time exploring and had a fabulous lunch that was served to us by the monks-a very great experience.

We spent the rest of the time looking around the Island and shopping at the outlet mall, so many great deals. We also learned a valuble lesson today, littering in Hong Kong results in a $300.00 fine, and there are always people watching you. So if you travel to Hong Kong be sure to find a garbage can!
